We have two packages available for early education centres, schools and organisations wanting to book in a workshop with Hills District Speech Therapy. Our packages are designed to match the diverse needs of the locations and clients we service. We are also able to tailor our packages further following a consultation with a member of our bookings team.

Supporting Children with Communication Differences
About
This workshop is available to both parents and educators wanting to further their understanding and skills in supporting preschool and school aged children with communication differences. Our presenters combine their experience as allied health professionals, and trainings in neurodiverse affirming therapy approaches to ensure attendees are well equipped to nurture and advocate for their child’s communication preferences. Some of the topics we cover include:
- Understanding my child’s communication profile using a strengths based approach
- Moving beyond requesting. Understanding and appreciating communicative functions and modalities
- Understanding and using total communication
- Understanding and supporting the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) at home, in the community and in educational settings
- Reframing goals and therapy
- Looking at accommodations and supports to integrate across a range of settings
Behaviour and Regulation

This workshop is available to both parents and educators wanting to further their understanding and skills in supporting preschool and school aged children with behaviour and regulation challenges. Some of the topics we cover include:
- Understanding behaviour and regulation through a neurodiverse affiming lens
- Genuine connection with your child
- Fostering positive behaviours
- Your child’s toolkit to effective communication: a total communication approach
- Understanding the cycle of escalation including what happens in each phase, how to respond at each stage and how to prevent a crisis
- Safety and minimising harm during crisis moments
Speech and Language in the Home and Learning Environment
