Social Stories™ are an effective means of explaining new situations, skills and concepts to children, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The social story below was developed at Hills District Speech Therapy to help students commencing secondary schooling in the new year. It has been written in first person and uses photographs and scenes that are similar to what your child may see at high school. It is recommended that the child’s parent/caregiver reads the story with their child at least two times before they start year 7 in the new year.
